Meet Our Team
Amy Reagle Meyers
Amy Meyers became president of SCM Associates in 2018 upon the passing of her husband and company founder, Stephen Meyers. Although new to running SCM, she got her start in politics working for the Massachusetts Republican State Committee. She later worked as a Legislative Aide at the Massachusetts Statehouse and on a couple of statewide campaigns.
Stepping away from politics, she worked as a Consultant for Russell Reynolds Associates, Inc., a leading executive search firm, before starting her own search practice focused on recruiting leadership for non-profits. She has also worked on governance and leadership development projects for a leading firm of strategic advisors advancing culture and education.
Civic-minded and passionate about the causes near to her, Amy is a past President of the Junior League of Boston and the Monadnock Garden Club. She served on the Board of the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests and on the Monadnock Region Board of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. Currently she serves on the Board of her church and on her town’s Planning Board.
Amy’s greatest accomplishment is her two kind and talented adult children. She loves living in the country with her retired horses and a menagerie of rescue animals including dogs, cats, donkeys, goats, and more chickens than she should have.
She is very grateful for SCM’s amazing team of employees and contractors and is looking forward to working with them to taking the company to new heights and hopes to add many great female Republican candidates and leaders to SCM’s already impressive client list.
Senior Vice President
Stephen Bates joined SCM Associates in 1998 and has handled a number of high-profile national, statewide, and congressional campaigns over the last 15 years.
His current clients include Governor Scott Walker, Senators Ron Johnson and Mark Kirk, Congressman Paul Ryan, and Prosperity PAC, among others.
Last cycle, Bates crafted and managed a national direct mail program that raised nearly $15 million while building the largest gubernatorial donor base in America for Governor Scott Walker’s recall election in June.
Bates was also the direct response consultant for Congressman Paul Ryan. Prior to Ryan joining Governor Mitt Romney on the national ticket, Bates helped to build Ryan’s congressional account to the largest cash-on-hand among all incumbent Members and his Prosperity PAC to one of the nation’s top leadership PACs.
Before joining SCM Associates, Bates worked on several statewide, congressional, and local campaigns. He holds a BA in Political Science from American University.
Bates lives in Duxbury, Massachusetts with his wife, Nicole, and their two sons.
Lou Tavares joined SCM Associates as Vice President following the 2012 election cycle and has since helped candidates and committees across the country raise millions of dollars via direct mail and email fundraising.
Lou’s clients have included Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, Senator Mike Braun, Senator Scott Brown, and Senator Mitt Romney.
Prior to joining SCM Associates, Lou graduated first in his class from Boston College Law School, practiced corporate law at one of the country’s top law firms, and had the privilege of spending seven years working for Mitt Romney in various capacities. During his time working for Mitt Romney, he gained invaluable experience in running digital, mail, and telemarketing programs, creating and approving marketing content in fast-paced, high-stakes environments, managing complex national operations, and working with some of the country’s best strategic communication and marketing professionals.
During Mitt Romney’s 2012 campaign, Lou served as a member of the campaign’s senior staff as Staff Secretary and Senior Adviser. Leveraging a unique blend of operational and management experience, political, communications, and marketing knowledge, and legal background, he was responsible for all campaign content from Tweets to TV ads. At the same time, he served as the nerve center of the campaign, bridging gaps between all departments and ensuring appropriate communication between them. In addition, he oversaw the campaign’s direct mail and telemarketing efforts, which raised approximately $250 million for the Romney Victory effort.
Prior to this, Lou launched Mitt Romney’s Free and Strong America PAC, where he served as Chief Operating Officer and Counsel and managed the PAC’s day-to-day operations until its ultimate wind down. Lou also served as Deputy National Finance Director during Mitt Romney’s first presidential run and as Associate Legal Counsel to the Governor during the Romney Administration.
In addition to his J.D. from Boston College Law School, Lou also holds a B.A. in Political Science and Economics from Tufts University. He is licensed to practice law in Florida and Massachusetts.

The newest (and arguably the busiest) member of the SCM team, Jordan is a recent graduate of Franklin Pierce University where she majored in Business Management. She puts her education and sales and office management experience to good use managing a bustling office and provides a much-needed millennial perspective and energy
to our team.
A New Hampshire native, Jordan currently resides in Jaffrey with her German Shephard/Huskie, Bella. She enjoys staying active with many outdoor hobbies including hiking, running, and gardening.
Jodi Schell is a multiple award-winning copywriter who has been part of the SCM team since 2003. She holds a B.A. in History from Cedar Crest College and a M.A. in Political Science from Lehigh University.
Jodi has helped raise millions of dollars for a diverse list of SCM clients including Senator Mitt Romney, the Romney Victory effort, Governor Larry Hogan, Governor Charlie Baker, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, Congressman Doug Collins, and dozens of other current and former GOP leaders and groups.
Prior to joining SCM Associates, she honed her copywriting skills in the award-winning in-house creative department of a major book and magazine publisher, writing persuasive promotional copy for print and digital ads, direct mail, and websites. She gained invaluable political experience working as a Legislative Aide for a Pennsylvania State Senator and on numerous local, state, and national campaigns which gave her unique insight into the mindset of small donors and enables her to write compelling copy that prompts donors to reach for their checkbooks.
Politically active since the age of seven (when she begged her parents to let her stay up to see if Ronald Reagan would defeat Jimmy Carter), Jodi crafts results-driven copy that is unique to each client. She thrives on the challenge of writing for new clients . . . getting to know their background, voice, ideology, and agenda and then wowing them with a piece they are proud to sign.
Jodi lives in Pennsylvania with her husband and two daughters and enjoys reading historical fiction, hiking, yoga, walking her rescue dog, cooking, and escaping to the Jersey Shore and the Central Pennsylvania mountains.
Gary Reed has written compelling copy for websites, speeches, voter contact mail, email, and fundraising letters for Republican candidates and causes in all fifty states. He has been a member of the SCM team on and off since 1985 and has also worked for Karl Rove + Company.

Gary has won awards for his copywriting for U.S. Senate campaigns and continues to impress clients with his talents.
A native of Iowa, Reed has written or helped write several books including the National Republican Congressional Committee Finance Manual (with Stephen Meyers), Heroes Among Us (with Ambassador Charles Larson), Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished American 60th Anniversary (with his wife Jackie) and The Reagan Way Today.
He is currently working on a book (tentatively titled The Fourth Pillar) that brings sports psychological techniques like relaxation, visualization, focus, and mood regulation to the business world.
He lives in Granville, Ohio with his wife Jackie and their painted turtle Agnes. All three root for the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Pirates. Agnes was very reluctant to become a Cheesehead but Gary and Jackie bribed her with sweet corn and peas and she succumbed.
Before his passing in 2018, Stephen C. Meyers was a nationally recognized leader in Republican direct response programs who founded SCM Associates in **YEAR** and Granite Lists, a direct mail list marketing company, in 2013.
With an insatiable thirst for Republican politics and a keen understanding of direct response, Stephen spent thirty years coordinating highly successful direct mail and telemarketing programs for hundreds of political campaigns and organizations. During the 2008 and 2012 cycles, he served as the direct response consultant for Governor Mitt Romney’s presidential campaigns.
A four-time winner of the American Association of Political Consultants’ Pollie Award, Stephen turned SCM Associates into a nationally recognized Republican direct response firm that boasts some of the biggest and most respected names in Republican politics.
A diehard Red Sox fan and devoted husband and father, Stephen’s legacy carries on in his two adult children and his companies, now led by his formidable wife Amy Meyers.
